Borja Sánchez
Founder
Born in Barcelona, from a Galician family, I grew up understating different food and appreciating diversity and authenticity.
My grandma in Galicia operated a small bar next to the Village’s church and I was always captivated by the going and coming of customers, gathering to enjoy a drink together.
In the process of graduating in Business Administration and International marketing I had some jobs in bars, restaurants and hotels. My later working experience included working for some multinationals in different places as Holland, Poland, Canary Islands or Mexico.
I decided to come to Asia and after my master in International Trade by CECO-ICEX, I was sent in 2006 to Hong Kong as trade officer. After one year studying the market and promoting Spanish gastronomy, I was hired as Secretary General of The Spanish Chamber of Commerce, where I continue to be actively involved in the development of the industry and co-founded the Spanish Chef Association in Asia.
After 7 years in the Chamber, I realized my passion about food could also become my source of income and, encouraged by the local taste for quality, I decided to bring the authentic flavours of my culture to Hong Kong and founded, with two other partners, Los Ibericos Ltd.
At the beginning, I could not dedicate too much time to our company as I was quickly recruited by local F&B group as General Manager of Western Division and later acted as F&B consultant, focused in opening concepts and training staff for local groups.
Since 2019, I am fully dedicated to make Los Ibericos Ltd. Grow and become the leading Spanish F&B Company in the region.
Arantzazu Díaz Páez
Co-owner & Head of Marketing, Events & Retail
Born in Madrid, I grew up in a family dedicated to restaurant business.
From early age, I was taught to work hard to make guests feel at home in the different outlets my parents own in South of Spain. My mom, excellent cook, taught me how to pick the best ingredients in the market to prepare traditional Spanish recipes. When I was a teenager, my parents moved to the coast to look after their restaurants located in different touristic areas, where I learn my first words in English.
Later on, I moved to UK to study Environmental Science, with my major focused on waste management. During this time, I was involved in pub operations. My dedication to details and work ethics made me hold management positions and get me involved in the opening of new outlets, staff recruitment and training, as well a s in charge of deciding about the right strategy to market our products and services.
Before moving to Asia, I spent one year in France, where I taught Spanish cooking classes to local gourmands.
I lived in Japan for several years before moving to Hong Kong 12 years ago. I am currently based in Lamma Island, where I often host BBQ and parties where I offer authentic Spanish food to an international community of foodies.
As Head of Marketing, Events & Retail, I envision Los ibericos not only as the reference of Spanish Food & Beverage in the market, but also as a key player in the promotion of our culture in the region.
